2024 Civic Engagement Tour

Elections are for us.

Let’s talk about what matters…

2024 Civic Engagement Tour heavy metal logoSound bites, slogans, and talking points. Polls and approval scores. Elections aren’t really races, though–they’re interviews for important jobs. What can we expect when candidates aren’t “stumping”? Let’s have conversations with our candidates about what really matters.

In partnership with Braver Angels, Women’s Work Utah is bringing together candidates to share their solutions. We’d like the public a chance to learn how candidates will approach their jobs, how they will keep in mind our priorities and accountability to us, and how they’ll interact with others who disagree with their approach.

Join us for the 2024 Civic Engagement Tour: Conversations with Candidates. Every stop of the tour will feature a moderated discussion of Utahns’ top priorities. Indoor voices, thoughtful answers.

What to Expect

Questions will be drawn from Utah Foundation’s report Utah Priorities Project | What Matters Most to Utahns? with advice from the Sutherland Institute and a politically balanced focus group assembled by Braver Angels. The top five issues identified in the Priorities Project for Utahns are:

  • Housing affordability
  • Politicians listening to voters
  • Earning enough to pay for non-housing needs
  • Government overreach
  • Partisan politics

Braver Angels are experts in finding common values within political disagreements. Following their model there will be not one but TWO moderators, representing Red and Blue points of view while navigating charged disagreements towards understanding.

Elections are for us.
